I'm almost 50 and the greys are really starting to come in around my temples and crown. I tried "Nice and Easy". It came out O.K. but it doesn't take but 4 to 6 weeks and the roots start to show. I thought I'd let the color grow out and just get some highlights. Any other suggestions. I don't mind the grey that much and don't want to have to dye my hair for the rest of my life. I just want to grow grey " gracefully".

Well you are fifty so if you are just starting to get them then that is going grey gracefully. I'm almost 36 and have been going grey for about 5 years. I get mine highlighted every 6 months it is great. And having to color it every 4-6 weeks isnt bad, I'd look at it not having to see that nasty grey! And you would look much younger by coloring and not leaving it grey. My mother is almost 60 and colors her hair she looks like she is 40! Color does wonders! Good luck!

50 ? you're doing pretty good if just getting grey now. i'm 30- and almost totally grey. the choices are simple - just accept the new greys that grow in or break out the dye and dye your roots every few weeks. streaks and hi-lites don't mask it too well 'cause roots still grow in and the grey only matches the blonde for a little while.

I would just let it grow out! Grey hair can be very pretty if you don't style it like an old lady.... So, you can either let it grow out naturally, or go to a salon and see if they can dye the rest of it gray to match your roots! I'm sure that would be hard to do...but the way I see it, those are the only 2 options if you don't want to color it forever!

What is a good way to get my hair done for prom? I get it done at 1:30 prom day and Im either putting it up or leaving it down. I have a stapless dress that goes down to a little above my knees. My husband wants to be a hairstylist. He is 33 years old and works in the computer industry but he really has always wanted to be a stylist. He's just afraid what people will think about him and that people will think he's gay. He doesn't want to be a barber, he wants to be a hair dresser like in a pricey hair salon. He watches hair shows and tv programs about styling hair......I'm encouraging him to do what makes him happy b/c he's wanted to be a stylist forever ---and I think it would be great to have a personal hair dresser to do my hair in the mornings =)

How can he go about becoming a stylist? How long does the schooling take? ...and have you ever met a "straight" male hair stylist? These are his concerns.

He can look through the phonebook and find a local beauty school, or try calling the owners of a beauty supply shop or a local community college.

I think it takes about two years, but sometimes it takes longer.

I've never met a straight male hairstylist, but that's because I've gone to the same gay couple my whole life. I don't think there is any way that he is going to escape the stereotype, though... it's so pervasive that even if he has pictures of you and him taped on the mirror some people will still assume he is gay. But he just needs to remember that it is passion that makes you a good stylist, not orientation, and he certainly sounds like he has the passion.

Well he needs to find a school around your area for cosmetology. How long? It depends of the hours that you can put in the more hours the better. I have meet many guys straight that are hair stylists and I think they do a better job that girls stylist. The guy that does my hair every 12 weeks his name is Luis his awesome....

Leave in conditioners are always great!

Also, a hair serum such as frizzease works very well if you put it on your roots and leave it on for the day. It shines your hair and leave it smooth. Although it's temporary it helps to revitalize your hair. Plus, if you ever straigten or blow dry your hair, always run some type of product through it that will protect your hair from the heat.

Hot oil treatments sound good to! There's also something called emu oil. ( i'm sure it's avaible in the united states if that's where you live). You put it on in the shower and let it set for 3 minutes and it hydrates your hair with all these nutrients.

Go to the salon and get a deep conditioner, and while you're there get a leave in conditioner to use daily. Dont get it from the grocery store because they wont work half as well as the products you will get from the salon.
