I've had blonde hair dye on my hair for over 30 minutes, but my hair still looks dark?!?

I purchased from Clairol Textures and Tones hair dye. The shade is 7G Lightest Blonde. Yet my hair, roots included, still looks very dark. I don't get it. My hair was already dyed reddish brown. The woman on the cover of the box has very light blonde hair...why doesn't mine look like that? When I looked at the shades on the side of the box, even if you have black hair it shows very light hair next to it. What did I do wrong? if you are darker in color already, and want to go pretty blonde, you need to go to a salon to get it done, the crappy box dyes only make your hair orange in color if you try for blonde. they use the good stuff in salons. i have been blonde for 7 years and i used to try box dyes, and theres no comparison. box dyes suck!!!!! go to a salon

its the dye as soon as you wash it out your hair will lighten up, everytime i dye my hair blonde when the dye is on it it looks like a dark brown, but once its out and dried my hair is fine.

and cuz ur hair is naturally dark...you might even have to dye it a couple of times to get the desired effect...

if it doesn't work..see a profesional or contact the company...

I've had this problem before. I have naturally med brown hair and I have gotten blonde dye from the store and I would put it on and nothing would happen or it would just lighten it a bit. The only way i've been able to successfully lighten my hair is at the salon with bleach which I will do no more because it damages it.

Some things I don't mind doing to my hair ( conditioning treatment, a gloss etc., ) but when it comes to color and cut I go to my hairdresser because he is trained in this and I don't want to damage my hair. And if you have left product on this long and still no results I would suggest you wash it off before you have no hair to color....

If you've had hair coloring on your hair for 30 minutes, you're not going to have hair when you rinse it out - you will have cotton ball hair. To go from a very dark shade of hair to a very light shade of hair will take a professional dye job. But no salon will touch your hair after what you have done to itl.

you should wash it off or you are going to ruin your hair!! and if it doesnt work you will probably have to go to a salon, where they can bleach it of all color, then put the color you want on it :)

if you've had red in your hair then it stays red. I had to go to Sally's Beauty supply to get some green stuff to neautralize the red and dye my hair blonde. The lady there will know what to get you.

WASH IT OUT!!!!!! Grrrr, lol, then dry it and see how it looks. Hair always looks darker when it's wet.

just dunk your head in bleach for a fews hours, when your head starts to burn you know its working. that should do ya just fine. ; )
