i tried revlon and it came out near my roots but not the ends...i tried herbal essences it sorta came out on my bangs and some strands of hair.......i don't know....revlon was the strongest for me....anyone know?? also what if i do the base color twice?? will that help for the color to show? What color do you want to be? If you have dark hair and want to be light, then nothing will work except bleach. You really should go to a salon before you ruin your hair. The color in the store is not the same as in the salon and if you keep tryind to do it yourself then you are just damaging your hair more every time you try to color it. You will pay more to correct a mistake than if you just go to the salon to begin with...Trust me, I am a colorist and it is hard and expensive to fix a messed up color thats done at home!!

L'oreol is probably the best on the store shelf. The reason the end keep the color is they are more porous then the roots. In other words , they are older and more damaged then then the newer hair, the roots. And because of this the ends will grab the color quicker and hold onto it best. Always apply the color on the new growth first. Follow the instructions on the box. You have to read the boxes to make sure you are getting on that says it will lift your color 2-3 shades. If you go to a beauty supply store open to the public, the people there can help you better.

You will not get hair color to alter previously colored hair. It is only working on your "new growth" because it has less or no artificial color on it.
